My short Stay on Ukerewe Island

I have experienced the island of Ukerewe as an exciting and varied place. I had spent some interesting days and stayed in Dickson Magomba’s accommodation.

I know Dickson Magomba personally through my Tanzanian husband and we also have contact to each other from time to time.

The people of Ukerewe are very open and nice and you get in touch with them quickly.

On the many beautiful nature trails I droved around the Island with a rented bike – with and without a guide. Bicycles are available almost everywhere on that Island.

I was on the shore of Lake Victoria and enjoyed a quick dip there.
(Attention: Chistosomiasis, also known as Schistosomiasis, is a widespread worm disease in the tropics and subtropics, occurring only where, in warm inland waters, snails live as intermediaries. My doctor said, that when you move in the water and you won’t stop to move, it would be impossible to get infected, but everyone has to weigh their own risk, and it is important to change their wet clothes afterwards.)

Then I was also in the city of Nansio, where there are beautiful places at the lake and interesting things in the city itself.

If you like native holidays and you also like to be connected with the nature, you will certainly feelĀ in good hands at this beautiful place.

It has not been the last time I visited Ukerewe. I warmly recommend it to others.
